Narus CTO Dr. Antonio Nucci Nominated for Technologist of the Year

Total Telecom’s World Vendor Awards Celebrate Technology Industry’s Best of the Best

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- May 6, 2010 —Narus, Inc., the leader in real-time traffic intelligence for protecting governments, service providers and enterprises against cyber threats and the risks of doing business in cyber space, today announced that Total Telecom has recognized Narus CTO Dr. Antonio Nucci with a 2010 World Vendor Award nomination for “Technologist of the Year.” The Technologist of the Year category lauds the most forward-thinking and influential luminaries in the industry. Peer votes determined nominees and winners, and ultimately hailed Dr. Nucci’s research and work in cyber security technology as one of only five finalists.

Over the years, Dr. Nucci has made an indelible footprint on the cyber security industry with technology that has advanced efforts to protect the world’s largest and most critical IP networks. During his tenure with Narus, he created several prototypes based on his team’s innovative technology, demonstrating the entrance of biometric techniques to the world of IP networking. He has also been awarded six patents this year alone, and Narus has filed eight more on his behalf. These impressive accomplishments have helped launch Dr. Nucci into the spotlight as one of the world’s most gifted technologists.

The Technologist of the Year award nomination is the second time Dr. Nucci has been recognized for technology excellence. In 2007, InfoWorld named him one of 25 CTOs of the year. Since then, Dr. Nucci’s research has helped Narus secure a number of Product of the Year awards from such distinguished outlets as Internet Telephony andUnified Communications. By virtue of his knowledge and expertise in the industry, Dr. Nucci has also been sought to speak at industry events, including the 2010 RSA Conference, where he demonstrated thought leadership in cyber security with a presentation on combating cyber crime. In “Shedding Light on the Dark Cyber World,” he presented novel biometric techniques that increase the understanding of the dialects spoken in the cyber world; identify cyber users whose activity and content may harm the cyber world; and gain visibility into the real person behind a cyber-identifier used to enter the cyber world.

“Antonio’s influence on the world of cyber security has indeed helped Narus become a leader in the industry, and moreover, he has made work and play in cyber space safer,” said Greg Oslan, president and CEO, Narus. “The Technologist of the Year award nomination confirms to the world what we at Narus have known for years: Antonio’s expertise and knowledge in technology is a unique talent worthy of special recognition.”
