Narus Mediation Platform Selected by T-Mobile
Convergent mediation solution to help power valuable mobile data services for nation’s largest GSM provider
October 1, 2002 Palo Alto, CA—Narus, the leading provider of convergent OSS mediation software, today announced that it has been selected by the fastest growing mobile operator in the US, VoiceStream/TMobile for T-Mobile’s GPRS services as well as to enable profitable new, value-based services. The Narus convergent OSS mediation platform collects accurate usage activity and key business information from T-Mobile’s network. This information provides T-Mobile the flexibility to create and offer their consumer and business customers these services quickly, while minimizing operational costs.
Narus has recently been selected by other mobile operators around the world to enable new mobile services such as sending email or providing access to the Internet from mobile phones, PDAs or laptops. Other new consumeroriented services that Narus is enabling today include the deployment of pictures by phone (for Multi-Media Messages such as greeting cards or realtime pictures of sporting events) and location-based services (e.g. alert to your cell phone when passing a preferred restaurant).
The Narus platform, with its high-performance, vendor-independent Charging Gateway, handles the mediation of all Call Detail Records (CDRs) and other network information from numerous sources to provide T-Mobile with information needed to deploy new services. Narus gathers data from the various mobile network devices and filters and aggregates the data into billable information. In addition, the Narus Semantic Traffic Analysis technology provides application and transaction information - this in turn, enables mobile operators to bill for applications and services.
