IBM and Narus Deliver IP Solutions to Telecommunications Providers

IBM Signs Agreement to Market Narus’ IP Platform as Part of IBM’s Telecom Solutions Offering

Mountain View, Calif.—October 24, 2005—Narus, Inc. today announced that it has signed a Solutions Engagement Agreement (SEA) with IBM, one of the world’s largest telecommunications solutions providers. This agreement enables IBM Global Services to integrate and resell Narus solutions and services to telecommunications service providers worldwide. Narus also announced that it has enabled its software solutions on the IBM X-Series and the IBM Blade Server technologies.

As the leader in unified IP Management and Security, Narus’ software provides carriers and governments with security, lawful intercept, traffic analysis and mediation applications, all based on Narus’ ability to capture and analyze IP traffic in real time at carrier network speeds. Telecommunications providers need solutions that scale with their networks and have the flexibility to address the continually emerging IP services they offer. The combination of IBM Blade Server hardware, IBM software and Narus’ IP Platform deployed across a carrier’s network provides carriers with instant knowledge of their traffic flows, the proper tools to identify potentially malicious and anomalous traffic using NarusSecure, and managed network services and mediation.

“Narus is a great example of a VC-backed company whose innovation represents a good partnership opportunity for IBM,” said Claudia Fan Munce, IBM vice president and managing director, IBM Venture Capital Group. “Narus’ solution, combined with IBM servers and implementation services, represents a global opportunity for both IBM and Narus.”

“This agreement highlights the dedication both companies have to extending the most comprehensive set of services and solutions to telecom providers worldwide,” said Greg Oslan, CEO, Narus. “Together, IBM and Narus will provide carriers with the solutions to secure their networks and ensure high-quality services for their customers.”

Narus unified IP Management and Security is deployed by some of the largest carriers and IP service providers in the world, including AT&T, KDDI, U.S. Cellular, Korea Telecom, T-Mobile and Telecom Egypt. Carriers rely on Narus’ solutions to provide them with real-time IP knowledge to create, manage and protect their services and revenue. Narus offers a full suite of IP applications all on a single platform with solutions for protecting critical infrastructure from attack, traffic analysis and management, lawful interception and content-based billing.
