Narus Chooses IBM as Preferred Partner to Deliver On-Demand Business Solutions to Telecommunications Customers

Narus Achieves Optimized Status in IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—February 13, 2006—Narus Inc. today announced it has achieved industry optimized status in IBM’s PartnerWorld Industry Networks. Narus can now take advantage of IBM's sales, marketing and technical expertise to develop and deliver solutions that meet customer requirements for ultra-high performance IP Management and Security for the largest telecommunications service providers and government networks in the world.

Customers are seeking solutions that can help them better integrate processes and applications and allow them to quickly respond to changing market opportunities — all key elements in transforming to an on-demand business.

Narus provides ultra-high performance IP Management and Security systems for the largest carrier and government networks in the world, including AT&T, Vodafone, U.S. Cellular, Brasil Telecom, Korea Telecom and KDDI. The Narus system performs analysis of IP traffic at speeds up to 10Gb per second, driving mission-critical IP security, IP analysis, IP monitoring and IP mediation applications. The Narus system delivers a “total network view” that enables real-time analysis and decision making from a single packet to billions of packets across multiple networks.

Narus is unsurpassed in real-time performance, extensive analytics, “seven 9s” reliability, and the extensibility of the system to align to multiple customer activities such as the implementation of VoIP, IMS and lawful intercept. Narus is headquartered in Mountain View, Calif. (United States) with offices throughout North America, EMEA (France, Germany and the United Kingdom), Asia (Japan, Korea and China), and Brazil.

Narus and IBM (NYSE:IBM) have leveraged their relationship to develop the first Inter-Telecom Revenue Sharing Reference Platform (RSRP) to facilitate the allocation and distribution of revenue from next-generation IP services such as VoIP, IPTV and new services delivered as part of the IMS architecture. Designed to directly address the industry’s “revenue leakage” issue, the RSRP’s first customer implementation is with Brasil Telecom. For the first time, Brasil Telecom can analyze the content of the traffic in real-time and allow the five Brazilian carriers to bill each other based on the type of service, where it originated and who consumed it.

“Narus is the recognized leader in ultra-high performance IP Management and Security systems,” said Steve Bannerman, vice president of marketing, Narus. “The combination of our cutting-edge technology and the considerable resources provided by IBM’s PartnerWorld Industry Networks has immediately led to the joint development of an exciting new telecom industry reference platform as well as an important customer win for both companies. We look forward to building on this momentum as we work with IBM to deliver mission-critical solutions to our customers.”

“The resources of the Partnerworld Industry Networks will help Narus go to market and sell the innovative RSRP solution that we helped jointly create,” said Buell Duncan, general manager, ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. “This program exemplifies our commitment to working with Narus to deliver open, high-performance IP management solutions.”

The IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks provide ISVs with comprehensive business insight, technical resources, networking opportunities, and marketing and sales support designed to help them reach more customers and close deals faster. Participants in the PartnerWorld Industry Networks can team with IBM to bring on-demand solutions to market more easily and to ensure these solutions meet specific industry needs, reflecting how customers buy technology today.
