Narus and Datacraft Team Up to Offer Complete IP Platform to Asia-Pacific Service Providers

Partnership Offers Total Network View for Infrastructure Protection, Policy Management, Traffic Monitoring, Billing Mediation and Other Innovative Applications

September 8, 2004, Mountain View CA — Narus, the leading carrier-class IP platform software provider, today announced it has signed an agreement with Datacraft, the leading independent IT services company in the Asia Pacific region, to market and support Narus’ IP Platform solutions in 12 countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The Narus Carrier-Class IP Platform offers a “Total Network View” through the real-time collection and analysis of one packet to billions of packets across multiple networks simultaneously. The Narus Carrier-Class IP Platform is used by Tier-1 service providers to enable IP applications such as IP security, policy enforcement, IP monitoring, and billing.

“The fast-growing market for mobile, broadband and Internet services in Asia requires the flexibility and scalability of the Narus IP Platform to accommodate the complexities of very large networks,” said Peter Williams, Head of the Solutions Development Group, Datacraft. “Leveraging Narus technology, Datacraft has developed an innovative Traffic Auditing Solution & Provisioning Solution (TAPS) that can effectively monitor Service Provider network traffic volume and patterns while automatically protecting against network-crippling viruses and worms once detected.”

Successful TAPS Implementation with KT

Datacraft has already implemented the TAPS solution at KT, South Korea’s largest communications service provider, integrating the Narus IP Platform into Datacraft’s Integrated Business and Operation Systems (iBOSS). Using RuleSets developed jointly by Narus and Datacraft to detect attacks, the Narus IP Platform aggregates, correlates, and analyzes, in real time, network and application traffic captured at up to OC 48 rate across the entire core of the KT network. In the event of an attack or anomalous spike in traffic, alerts are sent from the Narus IP Platform to Datacraft’s provisioning system, allowing the system to take countermeasures on the network, minimizing service downtime and disruption to customers.

“Datacraft has a strong regional reputation for project management excellence and bringing forward creative solutions,” said Greg Oslan, president and CEO of Narus. “We are happy to work with Datacraft to offer Tier-1 service providers in Asia Pacific our combined expertise and technology leadership.”
