KDDI Selects Narus for Third Phase of its Next Generation Mobile Data Network

Three-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Deal Expands Narus’ Reach in Japanese Market

Mountain View, Calif., March 14, 2005—Narus, Inc., the leading Carrier-Class IP Platform software provider, announced that it has been chosen by long-time customer KDDI for a three-year, multi-million dollar implementation of the third consecutive phase of KDDI’s mobile data mediation network. KDDI is the leading Japanese 3G operator.

Utilizing the Narus IP Platform for IP Mediation, KDDI is assured that every customer transaction on its network is accurately provided to their billing system. Revenue assurance is built into the system, a critical requirement in the Japanese cellular market. Besides using the information for billing, KDDI relies on the Narus provided data for determining user trends, enabling them to quickly react to customer and marketplace demand. KDDI continues to drive new customers, with a subscriber base of over 17 million 3G subscribers, adding customers faster than any of their competition.

KDDI has been using the Narus IP Mediation solution since 2001 when it first deployed its CDMA2000 network. KDDI is a leader in providing new value added services to their customers. With each new service implemented, Narus has been there for KDDI, assuring that usage can be billed with the highest level of revenue assurance.

According to Narus’ President and CEO, Greg Oslan, “It’s gratifying to have our customers return to us and share the successes they’ve achieved by deploying the Narus IP Platform. We will continue to push the envelope of innovation by developing scaleable solutions across disparate networks and geographies that help to provide real business value to customers like KDDI.”
