Narus Announces Dr. Antonio Nucci as Chief Technology Officer

Telecommunications and Internet Technologies Visionary to Lead Narus’ Advanced Research

Mountain View, Calif., May 31, 2005�Narus, Inc., the leading carrier-class IP platform software provider, announced today that Dr. Antonio Nucci has joined the company as their chief technology officer. Dr. Nucci is an internationally recognized expert in Internet traffic modeling and analytics of global telecommunications networks. He is renowned for having played a key role in designing and deploying the required backbone for supporting new-generation, high-bandwidth applications. He will lead Narus’ advanced research team in the development of the next generation of unified IP management and security solutions.

Dr. Nucci’s distinguished career accomplishments include groundbreaking research in areas such as Passive and Active Measurements, Traffic Matrix Estimation, Anomaly Detection, Statistical Modeling and Wireless Traffic Characterization. His expertise extends over several areas, being not only very active with Internet protocols, but also a highly acclaimed researcher in optical (WDM) networking and in mobile, wireless networks.

He conducted most of his recent experiments as a research scientist and principal member of Sprint’s technical staff at Sprint Advanced Technology Labs. The success of his research led to the development of industry-adopted software tools and multiple patents in the areas of Network Design and Modeling, Internet Traffic Analysis and Characterization, and Routing Protocol Analysis and Optimization. He has authored more than 30 technical papers for international conferences and peer-reviewed journals and served on program committees for top venue networking conferences.

Dr. Nucci received the Dr. Ing (B.S. and M.S.) and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, one of Italy’s premier technology institutes. He was elected a senior member of the IEEE for his contributions in the area of modeling and analysis of network performance.
