Korean Carrier Giant Strengthens Protection of its Nationwide Network With NarusSecure
Mountain View, Calif.—September 26, 2005—Narus, Inc., along with its channel partner Datacraft Korea, today announced that KT has expanded its network’s security with use of NarusSecure. As part of Datacraft’s TAPS system, NarusSecure now enables security coverage across the majority of KT’s nationwide network. The deal broadens the initial system KT installed 18 months ago.
Part of Narus’ unified IP Management and Security platform, NarusSecure provides behavior-based anomaly detection for the KT network, creating the information critical in protecting against a multitude of viruses, worms and denial-of-service attacks. With the system deployed throughout its network, and the ability of the Narus IP Platform to correlate information across network segments, KT can detect both traditional and low-level attacks faster and with statistically higher accuracy than with any other system. NarusSecure is tightly integrated with Datacraft’s TAPS system, and the carrier behemoth is looking to further expand the capabilities of the Narus IP Platform.
“Successful carriers are beginning to recognize the need for their IP networks to be secured by unified systems such as Narus’ IP Management and Security platform,” said Weiming Li, vice president and general manager of sales and services, Narus Asia/Pacific. “With NarusSecure now integrated in the TAPS system, KT will not only continue to be at the forefront of the industry’s transition to IP security, but will have the opportunity to leverage Narus’ platform for other applications, including lawful intercept, traffic analysis and billing.”
Telecommunications networks today are experiencing an increasing number of more sophisticated attacks; in fact, the KT network is one of the most highly attacked networks in the world. By including NarusSecure in TAPS, Narus’ customers, including KT, AT&T and Telecom Egypt, can protect their networks from worm outbreaks, cyberterrorism and protocol application attacks. Since KT began using NarusSecure, the company’s network system has not suffered a single system-wide outage.
