NarusInsight Intercept Suite enhanced to solve critical requirements for targeting, capturing and reconstruction of complex webmail traffic
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., December 10, 2007—Narus, Inc., the leader in carrier-class security and traffic intelligence for the world’s largest IP networks, today announced its latest version of NarusInsight™ Intercept Suite (NIS), the industry’s only network traffic intelligence system that supports real-time precision targeting, capturing and reconstruction of webmail traffic. Narus technology has long been recognized for its ability to identify and track almost all network and application protocols across very large networks.
Targeting and capturing webmail traffic is a difficult challenge due to the proprietary and frequent changing nature of webmail services being monitored. The NarusInsight Intercept Suite (NIS) has solved this problem and is now capable of precision targeting, capturing and reconstructing numerous aspects of webmail traffic including email, chat, calendaring, draft folders, address books and much more. Traffic from all nodes and numerous protocols can be reassembled and viewed from a single management station or distributed across multiple stations. In addition, NIS supports a large percentage of all webmail services, including Google Gmail, MSN Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Gawab Mail (English and Arabic versions).
Narus traffic intelligence uses proprietary techniques that allow traffic identification independent of many local network features such as asymmetric routing and local languages. These capabilities are used in the NIS to reassemble English and non-English language webmail carried over proprietary protocols.
The NarusInsight Intercept Suite (NIS) allows the capture of packet-level,
flow-level, and application-level usage information along with complete session
packets for forensic analysis, intercept, or for satisfying regulatory compliance.
It is built on the powerful NarusInsight system, the only carrier-class IP traffic
processing system that provides the complete, real-time network visibility essential
to protecting and managing complex IP networks. By adding webmail and asymmetric
monitoring capabilities, NIS provides the following new features:
• Support for target and capture of communication using popular webmail
services such as Yahoo! Mail, MSN Hotmail, and Google Gmail. The webmail intercept
enables service providers and government organizations to capture email messages
sent to and from webmail services.
• Support for target, capture and reconstruction of IP-based communication routed asymmetrically, and the ability to invisibly monitor networks directly without involving any other network elements.
“Terrorists and criminals are increasingly utilizing IP services such
as VoIP, email and Skype to communicate, leading to government mandates for
the monitoring and lawful intercept of these services,” said Greg Oslan,
President and CEO, Narus. “The latest iteration of NIS follows a long
line of powerful and unique products developed by Narus and once again raises
the bar, providing unparalleled monitoring and intercept capabilities to service
providers and government organizations around the world.”
NarusInsight Intercept Suite is installed worldwide and is supported by an international
set of partners that are capable of delivering this proprietary solution to
any location on the globe.
