Lawful Intercept Application Module
Part of the NarusInsight Intercept Suite | The Lawful Intercept application module enables carriers and/or service providers to meet the regulatory requirements of lawful intercept. The CALEA and ETSI standards from the U.S. and Europe respectively, provide the basis for the product.
Key Features
- Active, Passive and Hybrid Access Function models
- Vendor service and network agnostic
- Passive model collects off-the-line at wire speeds
- Internet, VoIP, PTT, e-mail, etc. all in one platform
- Wireline to wireless, dialup to broadband
- Secure and scalable administration and mediation functions
- Compliance with CALEA and ETSI standards
Key benefits
- Carrier-grade speeds and performance
- Lawful Intercept module is built on NarusInsight. This enables revenue-generating and/or revenue-protecting applications that Narus offers to offset costs of compliance.

Lawful Intercept components
Intelligent Access Device
The Intelligent Access Device (IAD) consists of one or more High Speed Analyzers or Intelligent Software Agents. An IAD isolates an intercept-subject's communications and/or intercept related information and prepares it for mediation and delivery. Narus offers passive, active and hybrid models for isolating subject traffic.
- The Narus High Speed Analyzer (HSA) provides a passive solution to collect off-the-wire at carrier-grade speeds.
- The Narus Intelligent Software Agent (ISA) provides an active solution to communicate directly with network elements. It supports communication with most network equipment providers and offers a generic XML API for vendors wishing to quickly add lawful intercept support.
- Hybrid provides user-transparent access by ISA and HSA for cost effectiveness or vendor compliant limitations.
Warrant Management System
The Warrant Management System (WMS) controls the targeting and interception for a given warrant. Narus Warrant Management System consists of a secure graphical user interface, targeting, and delivery subsystem for provisioning the access and delivery function. The Narus Warrant Management System (WMS) consists of a secure graphical user interface and a targeting subsystem for provisioning the access and delivery functions.
Mediation and Delivery System
The Mediation and Delivery System (MDS) is responsible for delivering intercepted communications to one or more Law Enforcement Monitoring Facilities in the format appropriate for the type of intercept.
